The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to commence on July 21 and will continue until August 12, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday. This session will mark the first sitting of both Houses after a break of over three months.
The dates were finalized following a recommendation by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Minister Rijiju confirmed that the government intends to hold discussions on Operation Sindoor, India’s recent military operation targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “Every session is important, and this one will be no different. All issues, including Operation Sindoor, will be discussed. We are reaching out to the Opposition to ensure a united approach,” Rijiju stated.
He also emphasized that, as per procedural rules, all subjects are open for discussion during the Monsoon Session.
The announcement comes amid growing demands from Opposition parties for an urgent special session to deliberate on Operation Sindoor. However, with the Monsoon Session now scheduled, it is expected that these discussions will take place during the regular proceedings.
The upcoming session follows the Budget Session, which ran from January 31 to April 4 and was adjourned sine die, marking the conclusion of the first Parliament session of 2025.
