Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met with Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 14-year-old batting sensation of Rajasthan Royals, at the Patna airport during the final moments of his two-day visit to Bihar. The meeting marked a symbolic moment, acknowledging the meteoric rise of a young star who has taken the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) by storm.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister wrote:

“At Patna airport, met the young cricketing sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family. His cricketing skills are being admired all over the nation! My best wishes to him for his future endeavours.”

Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

Hailing from Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest ever player in the IPL after being signed by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore during the auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. His debut innings was explosive — starting his IPL journey with a six and soon etching his name into history.

Fastest Century by an Indian in IPL History

Suryavanshi stunned cricket fans with a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans — the fastest IPL ton by any Indian. His final score in that innings was 101 off 38 balls, with a strike rate exceeding 206.55. Over seven matches, he has already amassed 252 runs with an average of 36.00.

Praise From All Corners

Suryavanshi’s extraordinary performance has attracted widespread praise:

  • Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals’ skipper, called his century “sheer class.”
  • PM Modi referenced Vaibhav earlier this month during the Khelo India Youth Games, commending his dedication, saying:

“There is a lot of hard work behind Vaibhav’s performance. The more you play, the more you will shine.”

A New Chapter for Youth Cricket

With comparisons to Sachin Tendulkar already surfacing and Rahul Dravid said to have mentored the young star behind the scenes, Suryavanshi’s success is becoming a symbol of a new era in Indian cricket — where raw talent meets opportunity.

The NDA government’s continued investment in youth sports and infrastructure is increasingly bearing fruit, and Vaibhav is its latest shining example.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rise reflects both his individual brilliance and the changing face of Indian cricket. His meeting with PM Modi was more than a photo-op — it was a moment of recognition for a teenager inspiring a generation.
