A devastating fire broke out early Sunday morning in a building located at Gulzar House, near Hyderabad’s iconic Charminar, claiming the lives of at least eight people, including children.
According to a senior official from a private hospital, the victims were brought in already deceased. Rescue operations were swiftly launched, with 11 fire engines deployed to control the blaze.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the tragedy and directed senior officials to take immediate rescue measures and provide necessary medical attention to the injured. An official release from the Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that directions had been issued to shift the injured to hospitals without delay.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy visited the site and stated, “Police have informed us that eight people have died in the incident. Some of the deceased are children. However, the final toll will be confirmed by authorities.”
Local AIMIM legislator present at the scene told the media that around 20 people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
This tragic incident comes just days after another major fire in a three-storey building in Hyderabad’s Begum Bazar area, raising concerns over fire safety in densely populated commercial zones.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire.
