Tragedy struck Delhi’s Paharganj area on Saturday evening when an under-construction building collapsed, leaving three people dead and one injured. Rescue operations are currently underway, according to officials from the Delhi Police and Fire Department.
The Delhi Fire Service received an emergency call at around 6:05 PM. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire services, and local police quickly reached the site and began rescue operations. One injured person has been rescued and is undergoing treatment.
This marks the second major building collapse in Delhi in recent weeks. On April 19, a four-storey residential building in the Mustafabad area collapsed, claiming 11 lives.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the victims. She announced a probe into the cause of the collapse and assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible.“
May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Further details regarding the Paharganj incident are awaited as search and rescue operations continue.
