Two tragic road accidents claimed 11 lives and left 11 others injured in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi and Balrampur districts on Thursday, police officials confirmed.
Hardoi Accident: 6 Dead in Auto-Truck Collision
The first accident occurred around 9:45 am on the Sandilla-Bangarmau Road under Qasimpur police station limits in Hardoi district. According to SP Neeraj Kumar Jadaun, a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a dumper truck resulted in six fatalities and three injuries.
The deceased were identified as Mohd Nisar (40), Ranjit Rathore (25), Ankit Kumar (20), Arvind Kumar (20), Pinki alias Bittan (25), and Phool Jahan (24). All were passengers in the auto-rickshaw.
Among the injured are Phool Jahan’s husband Siraj (27), their two-year-old son Ejaz, and Bittan’s seven-year-old son Jugnu. While Siraj and Ejaz are receiving treatment at the Sandilla Community Health Centre, Jugnu, reported to be in critical condition, has been referred to a higher medical facility in Lucknow.
Police said the dumper driver fled the scene with the vehicle. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, and efforts are ongoing to trace the absconding driver.

Balrampur Accident: 5 Killed, 8 Injured in Car-Truck Crash
In a separate incident in Balrampur district, five people were killed and eight others injured when a car carrying 13 passengers rammed into a truck near Chakwa Chowki on the Balrampur-Gonda Road. The mishap occurred around 1:30 am while the group was returning to Gonda’s Itiyathok after attending a marriage function in Shravasti’s Bhaluhiya Veerpur village.
Balrampur SP Vikas Kumar said the accident appeared to have happened while the car attempted to overtake the truck at high speed. The deceased were identified as Vijay Gautam (40), Phool Babu (35), Jitendra Kumar alias Ajay Kumar (35), Shiv Kumar (22), and Aditya Raj (8).
The injured include Sitaram (50), Raghav Ram (40), Kishore Kumar (35), Gopal (20), Vikas Kumar (12), Mehak (7), and two others. All victims were passengers in the car.
Shiv Kumar’s cousin, Pintu, told police that the group had reached the marriage venue at around 11 am and left within an hour to return home when the accident took place.
Authorities confirmed that the truck involved in the crash has been seized, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
