Multiple drone sightings were reported over strategic locations in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab on Monday evening, shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation regarding Operation Sindoor and escalating hostilities with Pakistan.

According to officials, around 15 drones were seen flying over the Indian Army’s Northern Command and the Air Force Station in Udhampur. Additional sightings were reported in the vicinity of Katra. In Samba district, visuals captured red aerial streaks and sounds of explosions, prompting immediate response from India’s air defence systems.

Drone activity was also detected near key military installations in Punjab’s Jalandhar district. District Collector Himanshu Aggarwal confirmed precautionary power shutdowns in the Suranassi area following unverified drone sightings. “There is no blackout as of now, and the armed forces are maintaining regular vigilance,” he assured.

Simultaneously, residents of Dasuya in Hoshiarpur reported hearing 7–8 explosions. Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain confirmed the reports and said the Indian Armed Forces were actively engaging with aerial threats in coordination with the local administration. As a result, blackouts were enforced in the Dasuya and Mukerian regions.

Additional precautionary power cuts were implemented around Pathankot, the Vaishno Devi shrine, and the Yatra track to safeguard against potential threats.

The drone incidents came shortly after Prime Minister Modi’s hard-hitting speech condemning Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism. “Terror and talks cannot coexist. Terror and trade cannot go hand in hand. Water and blood can never flow together,” Modi stated in his address.

Security forces continue to monitor the situation closely as investigations are underway.
