By The Sampadak Express

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the nation at 8 PM today, marking his first public statement since the recent military escalation between India and Pakistan. The address follows the Indian Armed Forces’ launch of Operation Sindoor, a high-intensity military operation targeting terror infrastructure across the border.

India-Pakistan Ceasefire: What We Know So Far

The Prime Minister’s address comes just two days after India and Pakistan agreed to halt all military operations across land, air, and sea. The ceasefire understanding was reached after four days of cross-border hostilities that had raised concerns of a broader conflict.

What Triggered Operation Sindoor?

The Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6–7 in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 civilian deaths. The operation targeted nine terror facilities located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists, according to official reports.

Pakistan’s Retaliation and India’s Response

Following India’s preemptive strikes, Pakistan attempted retaliatory attacks on Indian military installations on May 8, 9, and 10. In response, India launched a powerful counter-offensive, targeting key Pakistani military bases including:

  • Rafiqui
  • Murid
  • Chaklala
  • Rahim Yar Khan
  • Sukkur
  • Chunian.

Reports suggest the use of precision-guided munitions, resulting in heavy damage to radar sites at Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base.

What Has the Indian Military Said?

Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai confirmed that 35-40 Pakistani military personnel were killed in the operations, asserting that India had met its strategic objectives. Ghai is expected to hold a second round of talks this evening with his Pakistani counterpart, following an earlier exchange on Saturday.

Initially, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed the media after the launch of Operation Sindoor, with the Indian military taking over communication duties on Sunday and Monday.

All Eyes on PM Modi’s Speech at 8 PM

This live national address by PM Modi is expected to provide clarity on:

  • India’s next steps following Operation Sindoor
  • The government’s long-term national security strategy
  • Possible shifts in India-Pakistan diplomatic relations

Citizens, analysts, and the global media await PM Modi’s televised address, which could shape the subcontinent’s geopolitical trajectory for months to come.
