Army says ‘Justice Served’ after targeted airstrikes on nine sites linked to terror infrastructure; Pakistan vows response.

In a significant development following the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the Indian Army launched a series of precision strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). The Ministry of Defence confirmed the operation in the early hours of Tuesday, emphasizing the focused and restrained nature of the mission.

The Indian Army, in a post on social media platform X, declared, “Justice is Served. Jai Hind,” shortly after explosions were reported in PoK’s Muzaffarabad, Bahawalpur in Pakistan’s Punjab province, and other locations. Minutes earlier, the Army had posted a video with the caption, “Ready to Strike, Trained to Win.”

According to an official press release issued at 1:44 am via the Press Information Bureau (PIB), nine terror-linked sites were hit in total. The strikes, which reportedly avoided Pakistani military installations, were described as “measured and non-escalatory.”

“These actions are a direct response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 26 people — including 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali — lost their lives. India has acted with precision, targeting only those responsible for orchestrating terror against our nation,” the PIB statement said.

The Pahalgam attack on April 22 involved gunmen opening fire in Baisaran Valley, a popular tourist destination, resulting in the deaths of numerous civilians. Investigations have linked the attackers to terror networks operating from Pakistani soil.

Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have sharply escalated since the attack. India has since suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, closed the Attari-Wagah border crossing, and downgraded diplomatic relations with Islamabad.

Responding to the strikes, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that Indian forces carried out airstrikes on Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad, from within Indian airspace. Pakistan’s military said its air force was on high alert, with all combat aircraft airborne.“

Pakistan will respond at a time and place of its choosing. These actions by India will not go unanswered,” ISPR warned in a strongly worded statement.

A detailed briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’ is expected later today, according to Indian defence officials.
