Apple’s AI-powered ecosystem, Apple Intelligence, has gone global with the latest updates to iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4. The update expands support for more languages and introduces innovative features, including ChatGPT access, visual recognition, and enhanced creative tools, all while prioritizing user privacy.
Multilingual Support and Privacy Controls
Apple Intelligence now supports a broader range of languages, including Indian and Singaporean English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. This expansion is a significant step in Apple’s mission to make its AI-powered system accessible to more users globally. The integration of generative AI, system controls, and privacy features ensures a seamless and secure experience.
New AI-Powered Writing ToolsApple’s latest updates bring AI-driven writing tools to native and third-party apps, allowing users to rewrite, proofread, and summarise text. Whether adjusting the tone of an email or condensing long notes, users can describe the changes they want, and Apple’s AI will handle the rest.
Creative Enhancements with AI
The Photos app introduces ‘Clean Up,’ an intelligent tool that removes unwanted elements from photos, while the new Memories feature auto-generates highlight videos based on user descriptions. For creatives, Apple has launched Image Playground, an image-generation tool accessible through Messages, Freeform, and other apps. Users can create AI-generated images from predefined themes or their own photo references, whether in animation, illustration, or sketch styles. In Notes, the new Image Wand transforms sketches or blank spaces into complete visuals based on contextual input.
Genmoji and Enhanced Siri
Apple is taking emojis to the next level with Genmoji, which allows users to generate personalized emojis using custom faces, accessories, and more. These can be shared as stickers or inline reactions.
Siri has also received a major upgrade, featuring a cleaner interface and the ability to handle both text and voice inputs with improved context-awareness. In addition, ChatGPT is now integrated directly into Siri and Apple’s writing tools, enabling users to access OpenAI’s responses and image generation within Apple’s ecosystem. Users have full control over when and how they use ChatGPT, ensuring privacy and security, even for those without an OpenAI account.
New Visual Intelligence FeaturesApple’s new on-device Visual Intelligence feature can identify plants, translate text from signs, extract calendar invites from posters, or even find product links. This feature can be activated via the iPhone’s Camera Control or customizable buttons, adding another layer of functionality to the Apple Intelligence ecosystem.
Smarter Mail Features
In the Mail app, Priority Messages now surface important emails like flight tickets or last-minute invites at the top of the inbox. Additionally, AI-generated summaries help users quickly navigate long email threads, and Smart Reply offers quicker response options.
With these updates, Apple continues to enhance its AI ecosystem, providing users with powerful tools for creativity, communication, and productivity, all while maintaining a strong focus on privacy.
