Detailed Profiles of the Six Ministers
1. Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma Parvesh Verma, one of the prominent Jat faces in Delhi politics, has established himself as a formidable figure in the BJP. He made headlines as a “giant killer” when he defeated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency by a narrow margin of 4,089 votes. Verma’s popularity soared after the BJP’s victory in the Delhi assembly elections, where the party secured 48 out of the 70 seats. Despite speculation about his potential run for Chief Minister, Verma was appointed to the cabinet. He previously served as the Lok Sabha MP from West Delhi from 2014 to 2024 and has been an influential leader within the BJP.
2. Kapil Mishra Kapil Mishra, who won the Karawal Nagar seat in the recent Delhi assembly elections with an impressive margin of 23,355 votes, is another significant addition to the cabinet. Mishra, who initially contested the 2015 Delhi elections as a member of AAP and served as the Water Resources Minister, became embroiled in controversy after accusing then-minister Satyendar Jain of corruption. He was later removed from the cabinet. Mishra, who made headlines for his involvement in the 2020 Delhi riots, had contested the 2020 assembly elections from Model Town as a BJP candidate but lost to AAP’s Akhilesh Pati Tripathi.
3. Manjinder Singh Sirsa Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who marked his return to the Delhi Assembly by winning the Rajouri Garden seat, has been an active BJP leader. Sirsa defeated AAP’s Dhanwati Chandela by a significant margin of over 18,000 votes. He had previously represented this constituency during the 2017 by-elections but lost his bid for re-election in 2020. His return to the cabinet signifies a key victory for the BJP in this important Delhi seat.
4. Ashish Sood Ashish Sood emerged as one of the frontrunners for the position of Delhi Chief Minister in the BJP’s new government. A key player in the party, Sood won the Janakpuri seat in the Delhi assembly elections, defeating AAP’s Parveen Kumar by an overwhelming 18,766 votes. Besides his legislative success, Sood is also known for his leadership role as the BJP’s co-incharge for Jammu and Kashmir, further cementing his influence within the party.
5. Pankaj Kumar Singh Pankaj Kumar Singh, a first-time assembly candidate, secured the Vikaspuri seat in the recent elections. He won by a substantial margin of nearly 13,000 votes, defeating AAP’s Mahinder Yadav. The son of the former Municipal Corporation Delhi (MCD) leader Raja Mohan Singh, Pankaj has served in various influential positions within the MCD and is well-versed in the political landscape of Delhi. A dentist by profession, Pankaj has been active in the BJP for several years.
6. Ravinder Indraj Singh Ravinder Indraj Singh, a Dalit face of the BJP in Delhi, secured the Bawana assembly seat by defeating AAP’s Jai Bhagwan Upkar with a decisive margin of more than 31,000 votes.
