Key AAP Ministers Lose in Delhi Elections; Arvind Kejriwal and Other Senior Leaders Face Setbacks

By The Sampadak Express

In the ongoing Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is rapidly advancing towards a majority, with the party maintaining a lead since the morning. As the results for various constituencies start to come in, several key faces from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including prominent ministers from Arvind Kejriwal’s cabinet, are facing shocking defeats. The biggest jolt came when AAP Chief and Delhi’s former Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, failed to retain his seat. Along with him, several other high-ranking AAP leaders, who served as ministers during his tenure, have also lost their constituencies. Let’s take a closer look at the key AAP ministers who have faced defeat in these elections.

Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia’s Losses

The first major loss to discuss is Arvind Kejriwal’s defeat. As the Chief Minister of Delhi, Kejriwal had overseen many ministries. He contested from the New Delhi Assembly seat but lost to BJP’s Parvesh Verma by a margin of 4,089 votes. This defeat marks a significant setback for Kejriwal, who has been a dominant figure in Delhi politics.

In another major blow to AAP, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, a senior party leader, also lost his seat. Sisodia, who had shifted from his traditional Patparganj constituency to contest from Jangpura, was defeated by BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah. Sisodia lost by a margin of 675 votes, further compounding the challenges for AAP.

Satyendar Jain and Saurabh Bharadwaj Also Lose

In addition to Kejriwal and Sisodia, two more prominent AAP ministers faced defeat in this election. Satyendar Jain, who had served as the Health Minister in the AAP government, contested from the Shakur Basti constituency. However, Jain lost to BJP’s Karnail Singh by a massive margin of over 21,000 votes. Jain’s defeat is significant, especially given his high-profile role in the Delhi government and his recent bail in a money laundering case.

Another minister from the AAP government, Saurabh Bharadwaj, also faced a crushing defeat. Bharadwaj, who served as the Minister of Health, lost in the Greater Kailash constituency. BJP’s Shikha Roy defeated him by a margin of 3,188 votes, further adding to the list of AAP leaders who are struggling to hold onto their constituencies.

AAP Faces Setbacks Despite Strong Campaign

The losses of these senior leaders are a clear indication of the challenges AAP is facing in retaining power in Delhi. Despite a strong electoral campaign, which focused on the “Delhi model” of governance, emphasizing improvements in education, healthcare, and subsidized utilities, the results suggest that AAP’s grip on the capital is loosening.

While these defeats mark a significant turning point for the AAP, it remains to be seen how the final results will unfold as the vote counting continues. The BJP’s continued dominance in several constituencies points to a shift in the political dynamics of Delhi.

In a major electoral blow to the Aam Aadmi Party, several of its key ministers, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, have failed to retain their seats in the Delhi Assembly elections. As the BJP edges closer to securing a majority, AAP faces a tough challenge in holding onto its political influence in the national capital. The election results reflect the changing political landscape in Delhi, where the BJP seems poised to take control after several years of AAP dominance. The final outcome of the elections will likely reshape Delhi’s political future.
