BJP Releases Delhi Polls Manifesto, Promises Rs 21,000 Support for Pregnant Women

Date:

Union Minister JP Nadda, today, unveiled the first part of the BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Delhi elections, placing a strong emphasis on women’s welfare. Addressing voters, Nadda assured that all existing public welfare schemes would continue under the BJP, while accusing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of corruption.

As part of its ‘Sankalp Patra’, the BJP promised one-time financial assistance of Rs 21,000 along with six nutritional kits for pregnant women. The party also proposed Rs 5,000 for the first child and Rs 6,000 for the second child to support families.

Additionally, Nadda introduced the Mahila Smriddhi Yojana, under which women would receive Rs 2,500 monthly assistance. He also pointed out that the AAP’s earlier promise of providing Rs 1,000 to women in 2021 had not been fulfilled in Delhi or Punjab.

Other key announcements included a Rs 500 subsidy on LPG cylinders and two free cylinders during Diwali and Holi. The BJP also vowed to implement the central Ayushman Bharat health scheme in Delhi’s first cabinet meeting, despite AAP’s opposition to the scheme.

In a bid to support senior citizens, the BJP proposed an additional health cover of Rs 5 lakh, increasing the total coverage for the elderly to Rs 10 lakh. The party also promised a pension scheme offering Rs 2,000-2,500 for individuals aged 60-70 and Rs 3,000 for those over 70. For Divyangs and widows, the pension would be raised to Rs 3,000.

The manifesto also included the establishment of Atal Canteens in every slum, where meals would be available for just Rs 5.

Nadda, who is also the Union health minister, criticized AAP’s Mohalla Clinics, calling them “dens of corruption” and alleging a Rs 300 crore scam. He assured that if the BJP came to power, all corruption allegations would be investigated and the perpetrators would be jailed.

The BJP’s manifesto promises a comprehensive set of welfare measures, positioning women and senior citizens at the core of the party’s vision for Delhi’s future.
