The Parliament’s Budget Session for 2025 will take place from January 31 to April 4, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman scheduled to present her eighth consecutive Union Budget on February 1.
In keeping with tradition, the session will kick off with a joint address by President Droupadi Murmu to both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on January 31. This will be followed by the tabling of the Economic Survey, which provides an overview of the country’s economic performance over the previous year and outlines the government’s priorities moving forward.
The first part of the session will span from January 31 to February 13, with a total of nine sittings. During this period, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address. Additionally, Finance Minister Sitharaman will address the House to reply to discussions surrounding the budget.
Following this, Parliament will break for a brief recess, during which lawmakers will review the budget proposals. The second phase of the session will resume on March 10, focusing on discussions regarding the demands for grants from various ministries. This phase will also aim to finalize the budgetary process.
The entire Budget Session will consist of 27 sittings, with the final day set for April 4, 2025.
This session holds particular significance as it will lay the groundwork for the country’s financial planning and priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.
