Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a strong attack on the Congress and opposition parties, accusing them of misleading citizens and engaging in efforts to destabilize the country. Speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers’ event in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the Prime Minister criticized those who consider power their “birthright” but have failed to secure control at the Centre for the past decade.”
While opposition to policies is a natural part of politics, recent events show that some political parties are stepping beyond democratic norms. These groups, who have not held power for 10 years, are angry with the people of India for choosing a different government,” Modi stated, emphasizing the increasing bitterness within the opposition.
Accusations of Spreading Lies and Agendas Against the Nation
The Prime Minister further accused the opposition of venting their anger by spreading falsehoods and rumors, which, he claimed, have been part of a campaign that has been running for decades. “Their shop of lies has been operating for 50-60 years, and now they have intensified their efforts to mislead the public and drive the country in the wrong direction,” Modi said.

Modi urged BJP workers and the public to remain vigilant against such tactics. “For the awakened citizens and those who respect our Constitution, the actions and intentions of these parties are a serious challenge. We must expose every lie and keep people informed,” he added.
Acknowledging Political Shifts
On the opposition’s narrative ahead of the 2019 general elections, where they branded him a “thief,” Modi noted how the same parties later had to change their rhetoric. “The Chowkidar, whom they called a thief in 2019, became honest by 2024. They couldn’t repeat their accusations because the truth prevailed,” he said, highlighting the contradiction in the opposition’s approach.
BJP’s Growing Strength
The Prime Minister also remarked on BJP’s rising influence, citing the party’s surprising success in recent elections across Odisha, Haryana, and Maharashtra. “The unexpected results in Odisha show the strength of our party workers, and the growing support for the BJP across these states is a testament to our continued momentum,” Modi concluded, asserting that the opposition’s ill-campaigning against the BJP-led government would not sway the public’s trust.
Modi’s speech emphasized the importance of staying united and committed to exposing the opposition’s tactics while continuing to push the government’s agenda of progress and national unity.
