Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Sunday that his government views India’s eastern region, once considered backward, as the country’s growth engine. Speaking at the “Odisha Parba” event in Delhi, the Prime Minister highlighted the region’s importance in India’s development, stressing that the government has prioritized its growth.
Modi noted that investments totaling Rs 45,000 crore have been approved in just 100 days since the formation of the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha. He highlighted the significant strides made in the state’s development, pointing out that the budget allocated to Odisha has tripled in the last decade and increased by 30 percent this year.”
Odisha has always been a land of seers and scholars. The contributions of scholars here have helped spread our religious texts to every household, significantly contributing to India’s cultural prosperity,” said Modi. He emphasized that while eastern India was once regarded as backward, it now serves as the nation’s growth engine.

The Prime Minister also addressed Odisha’s increasing prominence on the global stage. He recalled how the Sun Temple in Konark was showcased during the G20 Summit last year, and expressed his satisfaction that the Jagannath Temple’s four doors and the Ratna Bhandar were now open to the public.”
Odisha Parba,” an event hosted by the Odia Samaj, a Delhi-based trust dedicated to preserving and promoting Odia heritage, celebrates the rich cultural and social heritage of Odisha. The event, which ran from November 22 to November 24, featured colorful cultural displays and highlighted the state’s vibrant ethos.
In his address, Modi reiterated the Centre’s commitment to promoting ease of doing business in Odisha, underlining the government’s support for the region’s economic growth and development.
