As Bihar prepares for upcoming by-elections on four assembly seats, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has made headlines by announcing that he charges a minimum fee of Rs 100 crore for advising political parties as an election strategist. This statement came during a gathering in Belaganj on October 31.
Kishor claimed that no one in Bihar commands fees like his and asserted that strategies he has developed are being implemented by the governments of nearly ten states. “If I advise someone in just one election, my fee is Rs 100 crore or even more. For the next two years, I can continue to fund my campaign with just one such election advice,” he stated.
He also encouraged the people of Bihar to reject caste-based and free-ration-driven voting behaviors, which he believes contribute to the state’s persistent backwardness.
In the upcoming by-elections, Jan Suraaj has nominated candidates for the four seats: Mohammad Amjad from Belaganj, Jitendra Paswan from Imamganj, Sushil Kumar Singh Kushwaha from Ramgarh, and Kiran Singh from Tarari. The elections are scheduled for November 13, with results expected on November 23.
Kishor officially launched the Jan Suraaj Party on October 2 in Patna, noting that the party has been active for two years and has received approval from the Election Commission of India. With this approval, Jan Suraaj aims to contest all 243 seats in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, which are likely to occur in October-November 2025, including a commitment to field 40 women candidates.
