Bihar Kokila Sharda Sinha Admitted to AIIMS Delhi Emergency Ward

Renowned folk and classical singer Sharda Sinha has been hospitalized in the emergency ward of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi due to a significant deterioration in her health. Reports indicate that she has been moved to the ICU after her condition worsened early this morning.

The news comes shortly after the passing of her husband, Braj Kishore, who died from a brain hemorrhage at the age of 80. The couple recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary, making this time particularly challenging for Sinha. Sources suggest that the veteran artist has been struggling with eating and drinking over the past few days, although no official health bulletin has been released by her medical team.

Who is Sharda Sinha ?

Sharda Sinha, a celebrated figure in the realm of folk music, hails from Bihar and is particularly known for her performances in Maithili and Bhojpuri languages. Her repertoire includes popular songs like “Vivaah Geet” and “Chhath Geet.” Sinha’s contributions to music have earned her significant recognition, including the Padma Shri award in 1991 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2018.

Beyond her folk music career, Sinha has also lent her voice to several Bollywood tracks, including “Kahe Toh Se Sajna” from the iconic film Maine Pyar Kiya. Her work extends to films such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Gangs of Wasseypur, among others. Throughout her illustrious career, she has recorded over 60 Chhath songs across nine albums with major music labels, including HMV, Tips, and T-Series.
