Snake-Bitten Man Walks Into Bihar Hospital Holding the Reptile

Date:

In a shocking incident from Bhagalpur, Bihar, a man named Prakash Mandal was bitten by a Russell’s Viper, one of the most venomous snakes in the world. Rather than seeking help in a conventional manner, Prakash grabbed the snake by its mouth, wrapped it around his neck, and proceeded to the hospital for urgent treatment.

Upon arriving at the emergency ward, the sight of Prakash in a dhoti, clutching the snake, left doctors and fellow patients in disbelief. Onlookers recorded the bizarre scene as attendants kept their distance, wary of the potential danger if the snake were to escape. One man was seen assisting Prakash, guiding him to a quieter area to ensure the safety of everyone nearby.

In a surprising turn, Prakash lay down on the floor, tightly holding the Russell’s Viper in his right hand. Another video showed him on a stretcher, visibly in pain but determined to keep the snake under control.

Doctors advised that it would be difficult to treat him while he continued to hold the reptile. Eventually, Prakash released the snake. His current medical condition remains unknown, but he is still receiving treatment.

Russell’s Viper, a highly venomous snake from the Viperidae family, is commonly found from India to Taiwan and Java. It poses a significant risk in rural areas due to its habitat in farmlands where human interaction is frequent. In Bhagalpur, sightings of Russell’s Vipers are not uncommon, with hundreds rescued in recent years from homes and hostels.
