Date:

India triumphed over Bangladesh by 133 runs in the third and final T20I, securing a comprehensive 3-0 clean sweep in the series. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, India set an imposing total of 297 for 6 in their 20 overs, marking the second-highest score in T20I history and the highest ever by a Test-playing nation.

Despite losing Abhishek Sharma early, Sanju Samson (111 runs off 47 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (75 runs off 35 balls) formed a solid 173-run partnership, laying a strong foundation for India. Contributions from Hardik Pandya (47 runs off 18 balls) and Riyan Parag (34 runs off 13 balls) propelled India to a formidable total.

In response, Bangladesh managed to score 164 for 7, ending a challenging tour where they struggled to make an impact in nearly every match. The team will now regroup as they prepare for a two-Test series against South Africa starting on October 21, 2024.

Hardik Pandya was named Player of the Series for his all-round performance, accumulating 118 runs at an impressive strike rate of over 222, along with a wicket and five catches. He attributed his success to the supportive atmosphere created by the skipper and coach.

Sanju Samson earned the Player of the Match award for his explosive century. He expressed gratitude for his teammates’ support and reflected on the pressures of representing his country, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the process.

Victorious captain Suryakumar Yadav highlighted the team’s collective achievements and the importance of a selfless mindset. He praised the adaptability of players and the commendable performances throughout the series.

Bangladesh’s skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto, acknowledged that his team did not play to their potential, emphasizing the need for improvement in execution and consistency. He urged his players to learn from this experience and take on more responsibility in future matches.
