Haryana Election 2024: 65% Turnout by 6 PM; Exit Polls Favor Bhupinder Hooda as Leading CM Candidate

Date:

The Haryana Assembly elections have wrapped up, featuring a competitive landscape with several major parties, including the BJP, Congress, the INLD-BSP alliance, the JJP-Azad Samaj Party alliance, and the Aam Aadmi Party.

Prominent candidates in the election include Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from the BJP, alongside party leaders Anil Vij and OP Dhankar. The Congress party is represented by Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Vinesh Phogat, while the INLD’s Abhay Singh Chautala and JJP’s Dushyant Chautala are also in contention.

A total of 1,031 candidates are vying for seats, which includes 101 women and 464 independent nominees. Voting concluded at 6 PM, with counting scheduled for October 8.

As the BJP aims for a third consecutive term, it faces strong opposition from the Congress, which is looking to reclaim power after a decade. The Congress party is hoping to leverage its strong performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, promoting a manifesto that includes seven key guarantees: a legal commitment to Minimum Support Prices (MSPs), conducting a caste survey, and offering a monthly allowance of ₹2,000 to women.
