As Haryana prepares for its assembly elections on Saturday, over 1,500 polling booths in Gurugram have been fortified with heavy security measures, particularly at sensitive locations. The district police announced that more than 6,000 personnel, including paramilitary forces, home guards, and special police officers (SPOs), will be deployed to ensure a peaceful and fair voting process.
A total of 4,800 police officers have been stationed at 1,507 polling booths across 626 locations in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. Additionally, extra forces have been assigned to 252 critical booths across 94 locations. Police teams are strategically positioned for booth duty, patrolling, and manning checkpoints.
Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Arora detailed the extensive measures in place to maintain law and order on voting day. He mentioned that flying squads, sector officers, zonal magistrates, and surveillance teams will be on duty to address any security concerns. Senior police officials, including station house officers (SHOs), will supervise operations in their respective areas to ensure a smooth election process. “We have measures in place to prevent disruptions or the need for re-polling at any booth,” Arora stated.

Around 1.54 million voters in the district are expected to participate in the elections. The police have urged residents to vote peacefully, maintain order, and report any criminal activities promptly. Public cooperation is deemed essential for a secure election.
Checkpoints have been established along district and state borders to prevent unauthorized activities from impacting the electoral process. Extra patrols, overseen by Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), and SHOs, are in place to deter criminal disruptions.
In the last 24 hours, Gurugram police seized ₹57.79 lakh in illegal cash, illicit liquor valued at ₹1.18 lakh, and election-related promotional materials worth ₹22,000. Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct on August 16, illegal assets totaling over ₹10.49 crore, including cash, liquor, narcotics, and weapons, have been confiscated during police operations.
