As Rahul Gandhi completes his first 100 days as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, the Congress party has lauded his contributions, proclaiming him the “voice of the voiceless.” Gandhi has prioritized issues affecting a wide range of people, including farmers and laborers, ensuring their concerns are highlighted in Parliament.
Pawan Khera, head of the Congress media and publicity department, stated that Gandhi has consistently advocated for the marginalized and oppressed during his tenure. “In his first 100 days as LoP, Rahul Gandhi ji has championed the causes of those affected by the violence in Manipur and has opposed unjust government policies,” Khera emphasized in a post on X.

Gandhi actively addressed the violence in Manipur by visiting the state, engaging with local leaders, and raising the matter in parliamentary discussions. Khera noted that Gandhi successfully opposed the lateral entry of government servants, which led to the withdrawal of that initiative, while also defending fair recruitment processes.
Over the past 100 days, Gandhi has traveled extensively across the country, listening to the grievances of farmers, laborers, loco pilots, and manual scavengers, ensuring their voices are heard and their issues are brought to the forefront in Parliament. Khera described him as a true “Voice of the People.”
In a Facebook post, Gandhi clarified that his mission as LoP is to restore values of love, respect, and humility in Indian politics. “These principles guide me as we work together to build a more just, compassionate, and economically prosperous India,” he stated.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla officially recognized Gandhi as the LoP on June 26, following the Congress party’s notification to the Lok Sabha Secretariat. This marks the first time in a decade that the Lower House has a Leader of Opposition, as neither the Congress nor other opposition parties met the required 10% member representation in the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha.
