US President Joe Biden has instructed the military to assist Israel in defending against Iranian missile attacks. The White House National Security Council confirmed this decision, emphasizing that the US is committed to supporting its ally amid rising tensions.
NSC spokesperson Sean Savett shared on X (formerly Twitter) that both President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are closely monitoring the situation from the White House situation room, receiving regular updates on the developments.
In a statement, the White House affirmed, “President Biden directed the US military to aid Israel’s defense against Iranian attacks and shoot down missiles targeting Israel.”
Additionally, a call Biden had planned with rabbis in light of the upcoming Jewish high holidays has been postponed. This decision comes on the heels of previous US military support to Israel during a combined Iranian missile and drone attack in April, which was reportedly a response to an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
The situation continues to evolve, and the US remains vigilant in its commitment to Israel’s security.
