IND vs BAN 2nd Test: Team India Breaks World Record for fastest team fifty

Date:

India shattered multiple records on Day 4 of the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur on Monday. As the Indian team batted, they swiftly dismantled the opposition bowlers. Bangladesh was bowled out for 233 runs, with Mominul Haque scoring a commendable 107* in an otherwise challenging innings. In response, India declared at 285/8, showcasing their batting prowess.

Key performances included opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who struck a rapid half-century, scoring 72 runs off just 51 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes. KL Rahul also contributed significantly, making 68 runs off 43 deliveries, which featured 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Among the standout achievements, India set a new world record for the fastest team fifty, completing the milestone in just 18 balls, surpassing England’s previous record of 26 balls against the West Indies earlier this year. The explosive start was led by Jaiswal, who hit three consecutive fours off Hasan Mahmud in the opening over, followed by Rohit Sharma’s two sixes in the next.

The opening partnership of 55 runs between Jaiswal and Rohit achieved a run rate of 14.34 runs per over, establishing a new world record for the highest scoring rate in a Test partnership of at least 50 runs. They eclipsed the previous record held by England’s Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes, who scored 87 runs in 44 balls at a rate of 11.86 runs per over. India also broke their own record for the fastest team hundred, reaching the mark in just 10.2 overs. This feat surpassed their previous record of 12.2 overs against the West Indies last year.

These remarkable performances highlight India’s dominance in the Test arena and their ability to set new benchmarks in cricketing history.
