On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to inquire about his health after Kharge fell ill while addressing a rally in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred in the Jasrota area of Kathua district, where Kharge began to feel uneasy and dizzy while speaking to the crowd.
According to Congress general secretary Gulam Ahmed Mir, Kharge’s colleagues assisted him into a chair to rest. After a brief pause, he resumed his speech and expressed strong opposition to PM Modi, stating, “We will fight to restore statehood. We are not going to leave it. I am 83 years old, and I am not going to die so early. I will stay alive until PM Modi is removed from power. I will listen to you. I will fight for you.”
Kharge’s son, Priyank, a minister in the Karnataka government, later provided an update on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that his father had been examined by medical professionals. He reported that Kharge was doing well, with only slightly low blood pressure. Priyank emphasized that Kharge’s determination and the support from the public keep him strong.
