In a heartbreaking incident in Delhi, a father and his four daughters were found dead in their home, which was bolted from the inside. Fire brigade officials had to forcefully open the door to gain access.
The deceased have been identified as Heeralal Sharma (46) and his daughters Neetu (26), Nikki (24), Neeru (23), and Nidhi (20). The bodies were discovered in two separate rooms of the flat.
An investigation with neighbors and relatives revealed that Heeralal’s wife had passed away from cancer about a year ago, which deeply affected him. Heeralal had been employed as a carpenter at the Indian Spinal Injury Centre in Vasant Kunj for the past 28 years, earning Rs 25,000 per month. However, he had not reported to work since January 2024.
It was also noted that two of his daughters, Neeru and the youngest, had disabilities. According to Mohan Sharma, Heeralal’s brother, and Gudiya Sharma, his sister-in-law, Heeralal became increasingly withdrawn after his wife’s death and was primarily focused on his daughters’ medical treatments. Neighbors reported that the family had not been seen since September 23.
Authorities found no visible injury marks on the bodies, but three packets of Celphos poison, along with five glasses and a spoon containing a suspicious liquid, were discovered in the residence. A medical board has been formed to conduct postmortems on the deceased.
This tragic event highlights the deep struggles faced by the family, exacerbated by personal loss and ongoing health challenges.
