On Friday evening, a boundary wall near the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain collapsed amid heavy rainfall, resulting in the tragic deaths of two individuals. Reports indicate that several others are feared trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are currently underway, with an estimated dozen people believed to be caught in the rubble. So far, four injured individuals have been rushed to the hospital, with two suffering severe injuries.

According to Ujjain District Magistrate Neeraj Kumar Singh the wall’s collapse was caused by the intense flow of water. “A part of the boundary wall near Maharajwada School fell due to the heavy rainfall. One man and one woman have died, while another girl and a woman have been referred to Indore for treatment.
On the other hand Ashok Patel, Chief Medical Officer, noted that four people were brought to the hospital, with two declared dead and the other two receiving care. “Our team is prepared to assist if more casualties arise,” he added.
Visuals from the scene showed streets inundated with water, complicating rescue efforts as teams navigated through the flooded areas. This incident follows a previous tragedy in March, when a fire during Holi celebrations at the Mahakal Temple resulted in one death and multiple injuries.
