In a shocking incident in Delhi’s Shakarpur area, a 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly installing spy cameras in the bedroom and bathroom of a female UPSC aspirant. The accused, identified as Karan, is the son of the woman’s landlord.
The situation unfolded when the aspirant became suspicious after noticing unusual activity on her WhatsApp account. Upon checking her linked devices, she discovered that her account had been accessed from an unknown laptop. This prompted her to search her apartment, where she found a spy camera hidden inside a bulb holder in her bathroom.
Immediately reporting her findings to the police, authorities arrived to investigate. During their search, they uncovered another spy camera concealed in the bulb holder of her bedroom.
The woman disclosed that she often trusted Karan with her house keys when she was away. During interrogation, Karan confessed to installing the cameras three months prior while she was visiting her hometown in Uttar Pradesh. He had exploited her trust by repeatedly asking for the keys under the pretense of needing to repair electrical fixtures, allowing him to access the apartment and retrieve footage from the cameras.
Police seized one spy camera and two laptops containing recorded videos from Karan’s possession. An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the law. Karan, who has been preparing for competitive exams for the past seven years without success, has been taken into custody.
This incident raises serious concerns about privacy and safety for tenants, highlighting the need for vigilance in trusting landlords and their families.
