During his recent visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York, marking their second discussion in a month. Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to aiding efforts for a swift resolution to the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
Throughout his three-day visit, Modi participated in several significant events, including the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington and a speech at the UN’s Summit of the Future. He also addressed a large gathering of the Indian-American community in Long Island.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi stated, “Met President @ZelenskyyUa in New York. We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations. Reiterated India’s support for early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and restoration of peace and stability.”

Modi’s historic visit to Ukraine last month was the first by an Indian Prime Minister since diplomatic relations were established in 1992. Following this visit, a joint statement highlighted both leaders’ shared interest in advancing their bilateral ties, aiming to elevate their relationship from a comprehensive partnership to a strategic one.
Additionally, during the Quad meeting on September 21, leaders reiterated their commitment to international law and the principles of the UN Charter, emphasizing the importance of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and peaceful dispute resolution.
