Two minor boys allegedly gang-raped a seven-year-old girl in Kotwali area of Ballia district headquarters town in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday. Both the accused have been caught, they said. The incident took place on Friday afternoon when the boys aged around seven to eight years lured the girl and raped her, the police said. He told that when the girl’s condition deteriorated on Saturday, her family took her to the district hospital and as soon as information about the incident was received, senior police officers also reached the hospital.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Veer said they reached the district hospital after receiving information about the incident late on Saturday. The girl was shifted to Varanasi for better treatment, Veer said. According to police on the complaint of the girl’s father, a case was registered against the two boys late on Saturday night under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. SP said that the police have taken both the accused into custody and are interrogating them.
