YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, calling for action against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. This follows Naidu’s accusations that the YSRCP was involved in adulterating the prasad at the Tirupati temple.

Jagan Reddy Urges PM Modi to Act Against Naidu Over Tirupati Laddoos Allegations
In his letter, Jagan described Naidu’s claims as “reckless” and “politically motivated,” asserting that they have hurt the sentiments of devotees and tarnished the reputation of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board. He urged PM Modi to “bring the truth to light” and restore the trust of the devotees.
Jagan stated, “This is indeed a lie spread with political motives, and such false propaganda could hurt the sentiments of Hindu devotees worldwide.” He emphasized that the TTD operates as an independent board, consisting of devoted members from various backgrounds, including those recommended by Union Ministers and chief ministers from other states. Notably, some current TTD board members are affiliated with the BJP.

He further explained that the TTD board oversees temple administration, with limited involvement from the Andhra Pradesh state government. Jagan highlighted the rigorous compliance checks in place for the quality of ghee used in temple offerings, including strict e-tendering processes and tests conducted by NABL-accredited laboratories. He noted that even during the previous Telugu Desam Party administration, similar quality control measures were enforced.
Jagan pointed out that there have been instances where substandard ghee was rejected, demonstrating the board’s commitment to maintaining high standards. He criticized Naidu for failing to recognize these efforts, stating, “A responsible Chief Minister should highlight the robust checks in place, rather than act without social responsibility.”
The ongoing controversy surrounding the Tirupati laddoos has sparked heated political discourse, with Jagan’s letter amplifying calls for accountability and transparency in temple operations.
