Ludhiana, August 13, 2024 — A 45-year-old engineer was found dead in his car in Ludhiana on Saturday night, authorities confirmed. The deceased, a resident of Ishwar Colony, had been missing for five days before a passerby discovered his body in a vehicle parked behind a liquor store.
The passerby, noticing the man slumped over the driver’s seat, quickly alerted the police. Officers arrived at the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The victim was identified through documents found in his wallet.
An autopsy report confirmed that the cause of death was excessive alcohol consumption, ruling out any foul play. The deceased, originally from Amritsar, had recently moved to Ludhiana to live with his uncle following the loss of both his parents.
The man, who had separated from his wife, was reportedly struggling with personal issues and had become addicted to alcohol. Focal Point Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar stated that the victim’s uncle informed the police that the man had been visibly upset in the days leading up to his death and had stopped attending work.
Initially, the deceased’s family suspected foul play; however, the autopsy findings dispelled these concerns. The body has been handed over to the family for final rites.
This incident underscores the serious consequences of alcohol addiction and the personal turmoil that can accompany such struggles.
