Telangana Pharma Factory Blast Kills 12, Injures 26; PM Modi Announces Ex-Gratia of 2 lakh

A massive explosion at a pharmaceutical unit in Telangana’s Sangareddy district claimed the lives of 12 workers and left over 26 others injured on Monday. The tragic incident occurred at the Sigachi Industries plant, sparking a devastating fire that rapidly engulfed the facility.

Rescue operations are currently underway, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and other emergency services on-site to control the situation and search for survivors.

State Labour Minister Vivek Venkataswamy, who rushed to the site, stated that the exact cause of the blast is still under investigation. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured victims.

Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy assured full support from central agencies in the ongoing rescue and relief efforts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences over the incident and announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh will be provided to the families of each deceased, while ₹50,000 will be given to those injured in the accident.

Authorities have launched a probe into the cause of the explosion as safety concerns mount over industrial hazards in the region.
