Shocking details have emerged in the murder case of a 25-year-old woman in Haryana’s Faridabad. Police say the victim was allegedly raped and killed by her father-in-law, Bhoop Singh, before her body was buried in a 10-foot-deep pit outside her home. The chilling crime, authorities say, was meticulously planned and concealed for nearly two months.
The woman, originally from Shikohabad in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district, had married Arun Singh of Roshan Nagar, Faridabad, two years ago. She was reported missing in April this year. It is now revealed that her murder was allegedly premeditated and executed with the involvement of her husband, Arun, and mother-in-law, Sonia.
Premeditated Murder on April 15
According to police investigations, the murder was planned around April 15. To carry out the plan, Sonia Singh was sent away to attend a wedding in Etah, UP. On April 21, Arun reportedly laced the food of both his wife and his sister, Kajal, with sleeping pills, causing them to fall into deep sleep in separate rooms.
Later that night, Bhoop Singh allegedly entered the victim’s room and raped her before strangling her with a dupatta. He did not inform his wife or son about the sexual assault. After the murder, he called Arun, and together they buried the body in a pit that had been dug a few days earlier under the pretext of constructing a sewer connection.
The body remained hidden under a concrete slab for two months until it was exhumed on June 21 in the presence of local officials, including Naib Tehsildar Jaswant Singh.
Family’s Elopement Claim Falls Apart
After the murder, Arun reportedly told the victim’s family that she might have eloped, claiming the house gate was open when he woke up on April 22. However, her family grew suspicious and approached the Faridabad police. During questioning, Bhoop Singh eventually confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the body.
Arrests and Investigation
Bhoop Singh has been remanded to police custody for three more days. His wife, Sonia Singh, has already been arrested. The victim’s husband, Arun Singh, is currently absconding and being tracked by law enforcement. Further arrests, including that of the sister-in-law Kajal, may follow as the investigation progresses.
An FIR has been registered at Palla police station against Bhoop Singh, Sonia, Arun, and Kajal. The case, initially filed as a missing person’s report, has now been updated to a murder case. Authorities have invoked relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including:
Section 103(1): Murder
Section 3(5): Common intention
Section 61: Criminal conspiracy
Police have assured that all accused will be brought to justice.
