A shocking murder case has emerged from northeast Delhi’s Ashok Nagar, where a 19-year-old woman was allegedly killed by a man who pushed her off the fifth-floor rooftop of her residence. The accused, 26-year-old Taufeeq, has been arrested by the Delhi Police.
Accused Entered Building in Burqa to Conceal Identity
According to officials, the incident occurred on Monday morning, and police were alerted around 8:30 am by residents. The victim, identified as Neha, was found critically injured and rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Taufeeq, a resident of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, was taken into custody late Tuesday night after initially fleeing the scene. During interrogation, he confessed to entering Neha’s building in a burqa to avoid recognition by locals. CCTV footage from the building confirmed the presence of an individual in a burqa entering and exiting the premises under suspicious circumstances.
Alleged Relationship Turned Fatal
Preliminary investigation suggests that Neha and Taufeeq were in a relationship for several months. Tensions reportedly escalated after Neha discovered that Taufeeq was planning to marry someone else, allegedly due to family pressure. Police believe an argument over the issue may have led to the fatal incident on the rooftop.
Family Denies Romantic Link
However, Neha’s family strongly denies any romantic involvement between the two. Her father stated that Taufeeq had been a known acquaintance for nearly three years and that Neha used to tie a rakhi to him, suggesting a brother-sister bond. The family believes the murder was premeditated and not a crime of passion.
Investigation Ongoing
Police are currently examining all possible angles, including reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses in the building. The investigation remains active, and further details are expected as the case unfolds.
