Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the RJD-Congress alliance during a public rally in Bihar’s Siwan on Friday, accusing the opposition parties of fostering dynastic politics, corruption, and lawlessness during their regimes.
Dedicating development projects worth ₹10,000 crore, PM Modi urged voters to reject the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan in the upcoming elections, claiming they had pushed Bihar into an era of “jungle raj” and poor governance.“
While we believe in Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, they believe in Parivaar ka Saath, Parivaar ka Vikas,” PM Modi said, targeting the opposition for prioritising their families over inclusive development.
He blamed the Congress’s “licence raj” for deepening poverty across the nation, stating that while Congress leaders’ families prospered, ordinary citizens were left behind especially Dalit and backward communities, who he said suffered the most.
Response to Nepotism Allegations
PM Modi’s remarks appeared to be a counter to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s repeated criticism of alleged nepotism within the NDA, particularly over political appointments in Bihar.
Fifth Visit to Bihar in 5 Months
This was the Prime Minister’s fifth visit to the state in five months, reflecting the BJP-JD(U) alliance’s aggressive campaign strategy in key RJD strongholds like Siwan, Gopalganj, and Chapra.
Addressing a recent controversy surrounding alleged disrespect to Dr BR Ambedkar’s portrait by Lalu Prasad Yadav, PM Modi said, “RJD insulted Babasaheb Ambedkar. The people of Bihar, especially the 20% Dalit population, will never forgive this.”
‘Anti-Bihar, Anti-Investment’Calling the RJD-Congress combine “anti-Bihar” and “anti-investment,” Modi accused the opposition of perpetuating an era of poor infrastructure, criminal dominance, and rampant corruption.“
Shops, businesses, and industries were locked up whenever they ruled. They nurtured mafia raj, gunda raj, and corruption. They looted Bihar and made poverty its destiny,” he added.
On Migration and Unemployment
Highlighting Bihar’s high rate of out-migration, the PM blamed the RJD’s previous governments for forcing people, especially labourers, to seek livelihoods outside the state.“
The ‘panja’ (Congress symbol) and ‘lantern’ (RJD symbol) have hurt Bihar’s pride. Those responsible for jungle raj want another chance to repeat their old ways. For the sake of your children’s future, be cautious,” PM Modi appealed to voters.
With the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls approaching, the political temperature in the state is rising as both alliances intensify their campaigns in the heartland.
