A 29-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the bathroom of a hotel in Delhi’s Paharganj area on Sunday morning, prompting a murder investigation. Police suspect she was strangled with a drawstring, and her partner has been taken into custody.
According to Delhi Police, a PCR call was received around 9:47 AM at Nabi Karim Police Station from a hotel staff member on Arakashan Road, who reported that a couple staying in the hotel since Saturday had not responded to room service. When staff entered the room, the woman was found unconscious in the bathroom, and the man was missing.
Preliminary inquiries identified the couple as Sachin (31) and Sarika (29), who had checked into the hotel around 4:15 PM on June 7. Hotel records indicate they ordered food later that evening around 6 PM. CCTV footage reportedly shows the man leaving the premises early Sunday morning.”
When the staff entered the room, the woman was discovered unresponsive in the bathroom. She appeared to have been strangled,” a senior police official said.
Police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Nabi Karim Police Station. A crime team inspected the scene, collected forensic samples, and documented evidence.
The woman’s body has been sent for autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, the accused has been apprehended, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
