In a sweeping counter-terror operation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted raids at 32 locations across Jammu and Kashmir, targeting individuals and networks suspected of aiding terrorist organizations. The operation, supported by Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), comes amid growing concerns over the resurgence of terrorism in the Valley.

The raids were carried out in multiple districts including Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla, and Kupwara. According to official sources, areas searched include Reban in Shopian; Nildoora and Chak-e-Choland in Kulgam; Manzgam, Devsar, Sonigam, and Bugam in Pulwama; Sopore in Baramulla; and several locations in Kupwara.

Authorities say the searches are part of an ongoing investigation into a terror funding and conspiracy case linked to overground workers (OGWs) of banned terrorist outfits. These workers are believed to be facilitating logistics, recruitment, and the movement of funds for militant operations in the region.

While there is no official confirmation yet regarding arrests or seizures, NIA officials have stated that a formal update will be provided after the conclusion of the day’s operations.

The raids follow a series of deadly terror attacks in the Union Territory, which are now under NIA scrutiny. One such incident includes the April 22 attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, where terrorists killed 26 civilians including a Nepali national after reportedly segregating them based on religion. Among the victims were 25 tourists and a local pony handler who attempted to defend the victims.

Another case under NIA investigation is the June 9, 2024, Reasi terror attack. In this incident, nine pilgrims were killed and 33 others injured including women and children when terrorists ambushed a bus returning from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra.

The NIA has been actively investigating multiple high-profile cases involving key separatist figures. Arrests and ongoing legal proceedings continue against JKLF chief Yasin Malik and other prominent separatists like Shabir Shah, Nayeem Khan, and former MP Engineer Rashid.

With today’s coordinated crackdown, the NIA aims to disrupt the operational capabilities of terror networks and prevent further bloodshed in the region. More updates are expected once the raids conclude.
