The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended indefinitely following rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, according to information. The move comes in response to recent cross-border strikes and retaliatory drone attacks over the past 48 hours, which have significantly heightened regional security concerns.

In an emergency meeting, senior officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unanimously decided to halt the tournament, citing the safety of players and staff as a top priority. This marks the first mid-season disruption of the IPL since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.

The decision followed the abrupt suspension of Match 58 between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday, May 8. The game was called off after just 10.1 overs of play in the first innings due to air raid alerts in nearby cities including Jammu and Pathankot.

Sources suggest that the future of the tournament now hangs in the balance, with no clarity on whether the remaining matches will be played. A high-level BCCI meeting is currently underway to assess the situation, especially amid growing security concerns raised by international players.

Speaking to reporters after the Dharamsala match was called off, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal stated that organizers are waiting for further directives from the Indian government. “As of now, Friday’s fixture between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru remains scheduled,” he added.

The IPL, known as the world’s richest franchise cricket league, is now facing one of its most uncertain moments as political tensions overshadow the sporting spectacle.
