Operation Sindoor: PM Modi Reviews National Security, Urges Heightened Vigilance Across Ministries

By The Sampadak Express

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday with Union Secretaries to assess India’s national security preparedness and bolster inter-Ministerial coordination amid rising tensions.

The meeting comes in the aftermath of the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 civilians dead, and India’s retaliatory strikes on May 7 targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The country has since launched Operation Sindoor, a comprehensive security operation that remains in full effect.

According to an official statement, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for constant alertness, institutional synergy, and streamlined communication to navigate the current security situation. He reiterated the Centre’s firm commitment to national security, operational readiness, and citizen safety.“

All Ministries are fully prepared to respond to emerging situations,” the government stated. Ministries have identified actionable measures and reinforced internal processes to strengthen the nation’s response capabilities.

Key Issues Discussed:

1. Strengthening of civil defence mechanisms

2. Combatting misinformation and fake news

3. Protection of critical infrastructure

4. Enhanced coordination with State Governments and local agencies

The Prime Minister called for seamless coordination among all departments to maintain essential services and ensure continuity during emergencies. Secretaries have been tasked with reviewing their departments’ readiness and reinforcing emergency response frameworks.

Senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretary, and Secretaries from key Ministries including Defence, Home, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Power, Health, and Telecommunications were present. Each Ministry presented its preparedness plan under a “whole-of-Government” approach tailored to the evolving security environment.

As Operation Sindoor continues, national security agencies are on high alert, intensifying surveillance and preparedness to safeguard the country’s interests.
