High Alert in Delhi: India Gate Area Evacuated Amid Security Scare

New Delhi: A high alert has been issued across the national capital following a thwarted Pakistani drone attack that triggered loud explosions, sirens, and blackouts in several Indian border districts. As a precautionary measure, the India Gate area a major landmark and tourist spot—was evacuated, and traffic movement has been heavily regulated.

The Delhi Police have ramped up security and intensified night patrols. “Police will stay alert and keep active. Night vigil has been intensified. We will deploy extra force in every sensitive area,” said a senior police officer.

In a major move, the Delhi government has also suspended all leave for its employees until further notice.

Citywide Security Measures Intensified

Special Police Commissioners are conducting high-level meetings with Deputy Commissioners across all 15 districts to coordinate enhanced security protocols. Increased police presence is visible at key locations including metro stations, shopping malls, markets, airports, residential complexes, hotels, and other public gathering points.

Bomb Disposal Squads have conducted extensive anti-sabotage checks, while security checks at Delhi’s borders have been stepped up, with all incoming vehicles being screened.“

All DCPs are actively monitoring law and order in their areas. They have briefed ACPs and SHOs, and are personally overseeing the situation to ensure readiness for any eventuality,” said an official.

Enhanced Vigilance at Metro Stations

In East Delhi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Dhania led a thorough security inspection at the Mayur Vihar Phase 1 Metro Station, citing it as a “vital public installation.” During the visit, CISF personnel were briefed and a joint coordination meeting was held.“

The station is under constant surveillance with 41 operational CCTV cameras, and security is ensured with a team of 7 male and 2 female CISF officers deployed in every shift,” Dhania said.

Social Media Surveillance and Strategic Deployment

Additional forces have been deployed across critical areas including New Delhi, Central Delhi, Delhi Cantonment, and Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Authorities are also closely monitoring social media platforms for any signs of emerging threats.

Security agencies remain on high alert, with Delhi Police assuring citizens of their preparedness to handle any emergency situation.
