The Indian Army remains on high alert and is closely monitoring ceasefire violations by Pakistan following the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), defence officials said on Wednesday.

According to sources, the Indian military carried out precise strikes on nine terror hubs using advanced, precision-guided munitions. These strikes were launched in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

In retaliation, Pakistan resorted to artillery shelling in civilian areas of Poonch and Tangdhar, resulting in the death of 15 civilians and injuries to 43 others. Indian security forces have been granted full operational freedom to respond appropriately to Pakistan’s provocations.

Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, is reportedly in constant communication with frontline formations along the Line of Control (LoC), coordinating responses and reviewing operational readiness.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah convened an emergency meeting earlier today to assess the security situation in border areas. Local administrations have been advised to stay vigilant and prepared for any escalation.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the armed forces for their bravery and precision during Operation Sindoor. Speaking at an event marking the inauguration of 50 new Border Roads Organisation (BRO) infrastructure projects across six states and two Union Territories, Singh said, “Our forces acted with remarkable precision, sensitivity, and alertness to ensure that only terror targets were hit, sparing civilians.”

He extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering support and said the operation marked India’s most significant military action within undisputed Pakistani territory since 1971.“

With these actions, our forces have scripted a new chapter in military history,” Singh added. “They not only demonstrated strength and precision but also humanity.”

As tensions rise along the LoC, India has reiterated its commitment to national security and its zero-tolerance stance on cross-border terrorism.
