In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, senior National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has taken a firm stance, calling for an end to diplomatic engagement with Pakistan and urging the Centre to take decisive action.
Addressing the media on Monday, Abdullah said, “I have always advocated for dialogue with Pakistan. But after this attack, how can we face the families who have lost their loved ones? Are we delivering justice to them?”
Rejecting symbolic responses, Abdullah emphasized the need for impactful measures. “Not another Balakot. The country now expects action that will ensure such attacks never happen again,” he asserted.
He also condemned Pakistan, accusing it of violating basic human values. “Our neighbour has once again murdered humanity. If they believe such actions will push us towards them, they are gravely mistaken,” he said.
Touching on the historic rejection of the two-nation theory by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Abdullah reiterated that the region remains committed to unity and secularism. “We rejected the two-nation theory in 1947, and we stand by that decision. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians – we are all one, and we will respond accordingly,” he added.
The Pahalgam attack has sparked nationwide outrage, and Abdullah’s remarks reflect a growing sentiment demanding a tougher stance on cross-border terrorism.
