Rajasthan Royals’ young sensation etches name in cricket history with breathtaking knock against Gujarat Titans.
In a moment that will be etched in IPL history, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered an astonishing performance on Monday, April 28, by slamming a blistering 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. His innings, filled with power and precision, not only helped Rajasthan chase down a formidable 210-run target but also broke multiple records along the way.
Vaibhav became the youngest male cricketer ever to score a century in T20 cricket, surpassing the previous record held by Vijay Zol, who scored a T20 hundred at age 18 back in 2013. The left-handed batter from Bihar reached his milestone in just his third IPL appearance, showcasing composure and confidence beyond his years.

Starting his assault with a six off Mohammed Siraj in the first over, Vaibhav raced to his fifty in 17 balls and needed only 18 more to bring up his century. His final score of 101 off 38 balls included 11 towering sixes and 7 crisp boundaries. Among the bowlers he dominated were T20 stalwarts like Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Prasidh Krishna, and the formidable Rashid Khan—off whom he brought up his hundred with a massive six over mid-wicket.
The highlight of his innings came during an over from Afghanistan’s Karim Janat, where he struck three sixes and three fours, amassing 30 runs. Vaibhav’s exceptional knock laid the foundation for a record-breaking 166-run opening partnership—the highest ever for Rajasthan Royals in IPL history.
Though he was eventually dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the 12th over, his impact was undeniable. As he walked off the field, every Gujarat Titans player acknowledged his brilliance, while Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid stood up from his wheelchair to give the teenager a standing ovation—a gesture that underscored the significance of the moment.
Bought for Rs 1.1 crore ahead of IPL 2025, Vaibhav was seen as a promising young talent. But in just three games, he has proved he’s not just the future of Indian cricket—he’s already a force to be reckoned with.
