A disturbing road rage incident has emerged from Bengaluru, where an Indian Air Force officer serving with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) was physically assaulted, and his wife verbally abused, allegedly over a DRDO vehicle sticker.

Wing Commander Aditya Bose posted a video on Instagram detailing the traumatic event. Bloodied and visibly shaken, he recounted how a biker blocked their car, shouted abuses in Kannada, and attacked him physically. His wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita, was also targeted with verbal abuse during the confrontation.

The incident took place on the morning of April 18, as the couple was travelling from the DRDO colony in CV Raman Nagar to the airport. According to Bose, the biker appeared to take offense at the DRDO sticker on their vehicle, saying, “You’re from the DRDO, I can see the sticker. This is Kannada land, just watch what I do.”

In her FIR filed at Baiyappanahalli Police Station, Madhumita described the attack in detail, stating that the biker, riding a two-wheeler bearing registration number KA53 EA 528, began driving recklessly, then dismounted and banged on their car with his leg and a stone. When they stepped out to intervene, the man allegedly struck Bose with a stone and a key, causing head injuries.

Despite being injured, Bose refrained from filing a police complaint initially due to urgent travel plans — he was headed to Kolkata to admit his ailing father to the hospital. However, his wife later filed the complaint, leading to an FIR and the subsequent arrest of the accused.

In his follow-up video, Bose, seen with a bandaged head, recounted how the altercation escalated after the biker saw his wife driving. He claimed the man smashed their car window and bit his finger during the scuffle. Local bystanders allegedly supported the attacker, further intensifying the situation.“

What kind of country are we becoming? I serve in the armed forces, and this is how I get treated?” Bose questioned emotionally in the video. “God help us. God give me the power not to retaliate. If law and order don’t help us, I will retaliate,” he added, highlighting his growing frustration with the system.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many questioning the safety of armed forces personnel and their families in civilian settings.

Authorities said they are verifying the sequence of events and are in contact with the victims. “An unfortunate road rage incident has come to light. The situation is being addressed. The officer received medical treatment, and the IAF is offering full support to both the officer and the civil authorities,” an official source said.

The case is under active investigation as police gather more evidence and eyewitness statements.
