Sonia Gandhi’s Last Public Appearance
The last time Sonia Gandhi was seen in public was earlier this month during the Parliament’s budget session. On February 13, she was seen outside the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament, where she made her first intervention of the session during the Zero Hour. She raised concerns about the beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) being identified based on the outdated 2011 Census data rather than the latest population figures. Additionally, she urged the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conduct a new population census as soon as possible.
Her hospitalization comes as the Congress party continues to engage in political discussions both within and outside Parliament.
