10 Dead, 19 Injured in Collision Between Car and Bus on Prayagraj-Mirzapur Highway

At least 10 people were killed and 19 others injured when a car carrying Maha Kumbh devotees from Chhattisgarh collided with a bus on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway in Uttar Pradesh around midnight on Friday.

According to DCP Yamunanagar Vivek Chandra Yadav, the bodies have been sent to Swaroop Rani Nehru Medical Hospital for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway. The crash occurred near the Meja police station when a Bolero car, en route to the Kumbh Mela from Korba, collided with a bus carrying pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh.

Authorities suspect that the accident occurred when the Bolero driver fell asleep, causing the vehicle to lose control.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to expedite relief efforts and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.

Other Tragic Accidents Linked to Maha Kumbh Pilgrims

In another incident on Tuesday, seven Maha Kumbh devotees returning to Andhra Pradesh lost their lives when their mini-bus collided with a truck near Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district. The truck was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the highway, causing the deadly crash.

Additionally, in a separate accident the same day, three people returning from the Maha Kumbh Mela died in a collision between a truck and an auto in Bihar’s Kaimur district.
