Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Thursday at Blair House in Washington, marking a significant moment during his two-day visit to the United States. Modi arrived in Washington DC early Thursday morning, his first trip to the US since Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

Elon Musk, accompanied by his children, was seen entering the US president’s guest house ahead of the meeting. The high-profile visit has attracted significant attention, with PM Modi’s packed schedule including crucial talks with US President Donald Trump and influential figures like Musk and Indian-origin entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

One of the key highlights of PM Modi’s visit is his conversation with Elon Musk, the tech mogul recently appointed as a special US government employee. Musk now heads the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). While the official agenda for the discussions between Modi and Trump remains undisclosed, the visit comes at a sensitive time, with President Trump recently threatening tariffs on countries he claims are harming the US economy. China, India, and Brazil have been singled out as key targets for potential economic pressure.

Modi-Musk Talks: Satellite Broadband on the Agenda?

During the meeting, reports suggest discussions likely centered around Musk’s satellite broadband service, Starlink. The Indian government is reportedly keen on including Starlink’s services to launch satellite broadband in India, although details of the plans are yet to be made public.

Snippets of the meeting revealed that Musk presented a gift to PM Modi, symbolizing the cordial nature of their discussions.

PM Modi’s US visit marks his first since Trump assumed his second term as President. Upon his arrival in Washington, he was greeted at the airport by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and other officials. Modi expressed excitement about engaging with President Trump and further strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Partnership.

The visit is also seen as an opportunity for Modi to reflect on the successes of the India-US relationship during his first term and chart a course for deepening cooperation between the two nations.
