A controversy broke out in Hyderabad on Wednesday after a piece of meat was discovered in the premises of a Lord Shiva Temple in the Hanuman Temple complex, located in the Tappachabutra area of the city. The incident led to widespread protests, but the matter was quickly resolved after police investigations revealed that a cat had inadvertently carried a piece of mutton into the temple.
The Incident and Initial Reactions
The discovery of the meat, believed initially to have been deliberately placed inside the temple, sparked a major uproar. The local community was alarmed, and tensions flared as locals expressed concern about what they perceived as a violation of temple sanctity.
A protest was organized outside the temple by local residents and members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), who condemned the alleged act and raised slogans demanding accountability. The situation was further complicated when a temple committee member suggested that the piece of meat had been thrown near the Shiva Lingam, intensifying the public outcry.
Police Intervention and Investigation
Given the sensitive nature of the matter, the police quickly responded to the incident. The authorities received a complaint on Wednesday morning regarding the presence of meat in the temple. In response, several police teams were dispatched to assess the situation and investigate the origins of the meat.
The police began a thorough investigation, which included inspecting CCTV footage from nearby cameras in an effort to identify how the meat had ended up inside the temple. The investigation quickly gathered pace when footage from a CCTV camera near the temple provided critical information.
The Surprising Revelation: A Cat’s Involvement
The footage, captured by a camera in the vicinity, clearly showed a cat carrying a piece of meat in its mouth and entering the temple grounds. The cat was seen approaching the temple, making its way to the area near the Shiva Lingam, and placing the meat behind the idol. This footage conclusively proved that the cat was responsible for the incident, dispelling earlier speculations that the meat had been deliberately thrown by a person.
With the truth uncovered, the police quickly cleared up the confusion and appealed to the public to avoid spreading rumors or misinformation, which had been exacerbating the situation. The investigation also revealed that the piece of meat was mutton and weighed approximately 250 grams.
Public and Police Appeal for Calm
In light of the findings, the police appealed to residents of the city and surrounding areas to remain calm and not engage in further speculation. The incident, while initially contentious, was now understood to have been a case of an animal unwittingly carrying the meat into the temple, rather than an intentional act of disrespect.
The police emphasized that no foul play had been involved and urged the public to refrain from making unfounded allegations. As the controversy settled, the situation returned to normal in the locality, with the protests gradually subsiding.
The meat controversy in Hyderabad’s Tappachabutra area, initially a source of tension and protests, was swiftly defused after a thorough investigation. The police investigation into CCTV footage revealed that a cat, not a human, was responsible for the incident. With the truth established, authorities urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation and reassured the community that no deliberate disrespect had occurred.
