In a sharp remark ahead of the Budget Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that for the first time in 10 years, there has been no attempt from abroad to create unrest before the start of the Parliament session. PM Modi made the statement in his customary address on Friday, January 31, highlighting the contrast to previous years when foreign influence was often cited as a factor in stirring trouble during the Parliamentary proceedings.”

This is probably the first session of Parliament since 2014 where an attempt has not been made to stoke tensions in a foreign country just a day before the session begins,” PM Modi remarked, emphasizing that past years had witnessed a pattern of external attempts to destabilize the political environment. He further added, “For the last 10 years, before every session, there have been efforts to create mischief. However, this year, there has been no such effort, and we know that there are no shortage of people ready to escalate it if needed.”

The Prime Minister’s comments seem to be a pointed critique of the Opposition, alluding to their role in political confrontations and suggesting that their actions might have been complicit in such disruptions.

PM Modi also shared his optimism for India’s future, stating that the country is advancing with “mission mode” in its approach to economic development. He said, “We are moving forward in mission mode… Innovation, inclusion, and investment have been the core principles guiding our economic roadmap.”

The Prime Minister expressed his confidence that the upcoming Budget Session would be pivotal in boosting the nation’s economic trajectory, ultimately contributing to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047, marking the centenary of India’s independence. “I am hopeful that this Budget session will infuse new confidence and energy, propelling us toward achieving the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat,'” PM Modi said.

He called on all Members of Parliament to live up to the nation’s expectations during this important session and stressed the importance of national unity and progress. “I hope we will rise to the hopes and aspirations of the people of India during this Budget session,” he added.

Key Highlights of the Budget Session 2025The Budget Session for 2025, which began on January 31, will be held in two phases. The first phase will continue until February 13, followed by a recess. The second phase will begin on March 10, and the session will conclude on April 4.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget for 2025 on Saturday, February 1. This will mark her eighth consecutive budget presentation, a historic achievement for Sitharaman. However, the record for the most number of budget presentations remains with former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who presented a total of 10 budgets—six during his tenure as finance minister between 1959 and 1964, and four more between 1967 and 1969.

As the nation gears up for the budget, all eyes are on the government’s priorities for economic growth, innovation, and investment. With India’s ambitions to become a developed nation by 2047, the upcoming budget is expected to play a crucial role in setting the stage for the country’s future trajectory.
